NATIONAL PARKS

1.  Wallaman Falls National Park
Wallaman Falls is the most accessible of seven 'waterfall' national parks in this part of north Queensland's outstanding coastal hinterland.  At 268 metres, it is the highest sheer drop waterfall in Australia and a great place for camping, bushwalking, barbecues and freshwater swimming.

2. Hinchinbrook Island National Park
A totally wilderness experience, Hinchinbrook Island is the world's largest island National Park and is home to rainforest, beaches, mangrove and mountain terrain.  The Thorsborne Trail on the east coast of the island is a 3-7 day trek for the adventurous and is one of the most renowned wilderness walks in the world.

3.  Broadwater Park
Broadwater Park is situated in the Abergowrie State Forest in the foothills of the Rockingham Bay Range and is surrounded by pine plantations, native forest and rainforest.  Broadwater is a beautiful recreational forest and is home to the giant Broadwater Fig Tree.  The park is renowned throughout the north for its family-oriented camping, swimming and BBQ grounds.

4. Jourama Falls National Park
Jourama Falls is bounded north and south by spurs of the Seaview Range and hosts a terrace of cascading waterfalls and freshwater swimming holes.  The walk to the falls includes two lookouts over Waterview Creek and the surrounding rainforest from which brilliant photographs may be taken.

5. Girringun National Park - Mt. Fox Section
A dormant relic of north Queensland's volcanic past, Mt. Fox is a well preserved volcano crater.  A rough bush track exists from the base to the top of the crater and is recommended for experienced walkers.  The drive to Mt. Fox includes an interesting array of landscapes from sugar cane farms, through lush rainforest, and then cattle country. Camping is available at the Mt Fox Cricket Grounds

6. Orpheus Island National Park
Orpheus Island belongs to the chain of continental islands called the Palm Group.  Its beautiful beaches and spectacular fringing reefs make it a great place to snorkel, camp and bushwalk.  For the luxury seeker, an exclusive resort is located on the island and is renowned for its service and culinary delights.
